wines nervous with electricity and life—we love Nicolas Jacob and we can’t get enough of his handiwork in the Jura. there will never be enough of these wines to go around, of course, as it’s a tiny one (or two)-man operation, and the reputation here is already sky-high, but we have to express our deep admiration for Jacob’s vital wines! catch him with us drinking Macvin in New York, hopefully in 2022 🤞🏼

a nice tasting in the cellar with Théo at @vincentdancer_chassagne, looking at cask samples of the new vintage—with no additions, no chemicals, no interference—and we’re of course very moved by the purity and maximum deliciousness of the wines, it goes without saying. we’re very happy to continue to work with this excellent domaine (and its brave new generation!).

tasting at the dynamic domaine Rougeot with Pierre-Henri: spirited and confident winemaking, with quality the top priority—no spoofy Burgundy here—plus a commitment to organic farming, with first experiments in biodynamics coming this year. Even though this is a Meursault domaine, the various single-vineyard Bourgogne blancs and the Pinot Noirs are truly lovely and punch way above their weight class (peep that outrageous Pommard, slide 4)! 👑

a fine morning with @guillaumichaut in his home village of Beines in Chablis—tasting wines of softness, clarity—and talking about biodynamic practices and ambitions toward better and better farming and winemaking to come. So nice to see a young vigneron with vision in this historical region, a hopeful thing even with challenges like this year’s frost damage. We’re excited about Guillaume’s trajectory in the future too! ☄️
